Douglas Johnson at the Opening of his "Salt" Gallery Cerillos, New Mexico, 1970 Archival Pigment Print DM-15 |

Douglas and I received food stamp allotments in Santa Fe on the same day each month. We really didn't ever get to know one another, and would silently sit in the lobby, waiting to be called. When finished, it somehow came to pass that I would drive down to the outskirts of town, usually without a word, and at Cerrillos Road and Airport Road, I would drop him off and he would hitchhike home to Cerrillos. |
